Ghana international Michael Baidoo has completed a club-record switch to Championship outfit Plymouth Argyle, signing a three-and-a-half-year contract from Swedish side IF Elfsborg. The 25-year-old’s move, reportedly valued at €1.7 million, sets a new transfer fee benchmark for the Pilgrims as they aim to revitalize their campaign.
Baidoo concludes a successful three-year spell at Elfsborg, during which he impressed in both domestic and European competitions. Prior to joining the Swedish club, he featured for Sandnes Ulf in Norway and FC Midtjylland in Denmark, with additional loan stints at Jerv and Fredericia. Over the course of his Europa League appearances (including qualifiers), Baidoo recorded five goals and three assists, while netting ten goals and registering four assists in the 2024 Allsvenskan season.
He will wear the number 30 shirt at Plymouth Argyle, pending EFL approval and international clearance, and is expected to be available for the club’s January 11 trip to Brentford. Kofi Appiah, the Ghanaian representative overseeing the deal, played a pivotal role in finalizing the transfer. With Argyle struggling in the Championship this season, the former Vision FC captain is poised to inject fresh energy into the side.
