A mobile money vendor is dead, and another person is in critical condition after five heavily armed robbers attacked the Dominase Onion Market, unleashing over 20 rounds of gunfire.
The assailants stormed the busy market in the Gomoa East District, targeted the MoMo operator, and shot him multiple times in the stomach, neck, and back before fleeing.
A second victim sustained gunshot wounds and remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Eyewitness Yussif Mohammed told Adom News that traders and residents initially mistook the gunfire for police action, delaying any immediate response or approach to the scene.
The attack has left the community in shock, with growing fears over rising insecurity in the area.
In response, Ebo Anderson, Chairman of the Gomoa Potsin Neighbourhood Watch Committee, appealed to the Inspector-General of Police for urgent logistical support and more personnel for the Gomoa Dominase District Police Command.
He said enhanced police presence is needed to protect residents and businesses from future incidents.
