More than 100 young people in the Central Tongu District have received start-up support packages under the BizBox Project being implemented by the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) with support from the Mastercard Foundation.
The beneficiaries, drawn from various communities in the district, are engaged in trades including gari processing, hairdressing, dressmaking, metal fabrication and other small-scale enterprises aimed at boosting local economic activities.
Mr. Alexander Roosevelt Hotordze, Member of Parliament (MP) of Central Tongu, said the initiative was helping to address youth unemployment while promoting entrepreneurship and self-reliance among young people.
He said about 70 per cent of the beneficiaries were young women and 10 per cent persons with disabilities, describing the gesture as a demonstration of commitment to inclusion and equal opportunity.
Mr. Hotordze expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama and the Chief Executive Officer of the GEA for their leadership and continuous support towards youth empowerment.

The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the MP, the GEA and the Mastercard Foundation for the intervention, saying the support had provided them with the means to expand their trades and improve their livelihoods.
They pledged to make good use of the support to create jobs for others and contribute to the development of the district.
