MP supports over 1000 SHS freshers with educational supplies

Over 1000 pupils in the Sissala West District who gained admission into Senior High Schools (SHS) have each received educational materials comprising of mattresses, trunks, buckets, and eight exercise books each for their second-cycle education.

The initiative by Mr Mohammed Adams Sukparu, Member of Parliament for Sissala West and Deputy Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and innovation (MOCDTI) forms part of the MP’s Social Intervention Policy (SIP),  aimed at supporting parents struggling to meet their wards’ basic educational needs, particularly those admitted into Senior High School (SHS) institution.

The event, held at the forecourt of the District Assembly, attracted educational authorities, Assembly members, parents, teachers, and students, as well as some party executives in the constituency.

Mr Abudu Fuseini Gbene, the District Chief Executive (DCE), presenting the items on behalf of the MP, emphasised that the gesture showed the MP’s fullest and continuous commitment to education, aimed at easing financial burden on parents and encouraging students to pursue higher education.

The DCE explained that the goal was to ensure that every child in the constituency had fair and equal opportunity to access quality education, regardless of their background or financial situation, and urged the students to take their studies seriously and remain disciplined.

“Education remains my top most priority and I will continue to support my constituents with passion and dedication through my social intervention policy,” he said.

Mr Gbene stressed that the intervention was also meant to lessen the financial burden on parents while motivating students to take advantage of the opportunity provided by the MP to excel academically.

“My wish is that every student in the Sissala West constituency will continue their education to Senior High School and tertiary institutions,” he added.

He urged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and remain disciplined as they transitioned into the next level of their education, stressing that, the best way to show appreciation for the MP’s help was to excel academically and contribute meaningfully to the district’s development.

Mr Sumaila Bukari, Deputy Director of Education in charge of Finance and administration, expressed gratitude to the MP for his generosity and dedication to his constituents’ welfare, noting that the donation would greatly impact parents and students in the constituency.

Madam Cecilia  Alidu Baah, beneficiary parent in an interview with Ghana News Agency (GNA), described the MP’s gesture as timely, and refreshing relief to parents and students.

She said, “I have been worried on how to get money to buy these essential items for my ward to go to school, but I’m always unable because of financial constraints,” she said.

“I’m a petty farmer and I depend solely on my farm produce for income, but since we are not harvesting yet, it has been a serious challenge for me to afford these essential items for my ward to go to school,” she added.

Madam Cecilia, said “This help has come timely, and we are grateful to the MP, and we pray that Almighty Allah continue to bless and protect him for remembering the needs of ordinary families.”

Sister Banjniberu Gloria, a beneficiary and one of the best students in Filemuo TI Ahmadiya Basic School, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the MP for the support and said it would ease the burden on their parents, as well as inspire them to excel in their education.

She said: “We’re forever grateful to the MP for the support. It greatly meant a lot to us, we are going to make sure that we learn hard to achieve our dreams, and make him proud through our academic performance”.
