MTN celebrates 19 businesses in MoMo trade

The Mobile Telecommunication Network, MTN, has celebrated 19 outstanding businesses for their contributions towards the growth of the Mobile Money Market.  

The businesses drawn from Western and Western North Regions received citation and different cash prizes as re-injected capital by the MTN to those businesses.  

The overall best Mobile vendors and merchants received 20,000 cedis cash prize each.

Mr. Abdul -Razak Issaka Ali, Chief Operations Officer, Mobile Money Fintech Limited, at the 2025 Stakeholder Dinner and Awards noted how relevant the businesses had been towards the acceptance and wide use of the MoMo in-country.   

The night of music, awards and feast was under the theme, “Celebrating the Power of Partnership and Service Excellence,”   

He said, “We in Mobile Money stand ready to collaborate closely with all stakeholders to advance digital solutions for Ghana’s benefit and we are indeed proud of your consistency, innovation, integrity, and leadership”.  

The service, launched some 16 years ago, was to enable easy transfers and airtime purchase via basic phones and today, that simple idea has evolved into a lifestyle enabler.  

Mr Ali said, the vision has deepened to drive financial inclusion and adoption.

“We have also enhanced financial literacy, and support an economy where digital payments, credit, investments, and savings empower everyone”, he added.  

He described MoMo Agents and merchants nationwide as the lifeline of the digital financial ecosystem, connecting millions to digital finance every single day.  

He commended the Bank of Ghana for its visionary leadership and enabling regulatory frameworks that had allowed the industry to thrive and transform the nation.  

Mr. Prince Owusu Nyarko, the Area Sales Manager, South West Business of MTN, noted that the industry’s great progress had been made possible both through the esteemed customers and the collective contributions of regulators.  

He also acknowledged financial service providers, fintech innovators, aggregators, agents, merchants, and countless partners who worked every day to expand access, deepen financial inclusion, and improve the lives of millions of Ghanaians.
