MTN to gift customers 2gb data as compensation for data service disruption

Telecommunication company MTN has stated in a press release that it will give all customers a “goodwill package” after data services were interrupted for three days across the country.

According to the CEO of MTN Ghana, Selorm Adadevoh, all data customers on the company’s network commencing 23rd January, 2020 will be given 2gb each as compensation.

He added that the company appreciates the patience and support shown by its customers during the period.

According to MTN, a cut in an international undersea fibre cable was the cause of the disruption and went on to assure subscribers, their engineers were working to restore the system.

In all about a dozen African countries were affected by the cut in the fibre cable known as the West Africa Cable System (WACS), which is in the Atlantic Ocean, connects many other African countries to Europe.

The Consumer Rights Protection Agency first suggested to MTN to compensate its subscribers for the service disruptions.
