A new book ‘My Pocket Book of Laughter’, expected to help Ghanaians and Africans destress and catch some laughter even as they go about their busy schedules, has been launched in Accra.
Speaking at the launch of the book, the writer/compiler, Ebenezer Okrah says his book tries to capture laughter in an African biased way.
He said:
“The basic reason for this book was … I was looking for something with African biased content. Unfortunately, I didn’t find anything on the internet or libraries. There’s been jokes floating around and they have the traditional African tonation to it. So, we decided to put these jokes together, in a pocket-sized book, which can be read anywhere.”
Proceeds from the sale of ‘My Pocket Book of Laughter’ is expected to be used to help with the living expenses of a blind schoolmate of the compiler from Accra Academy 1994 year group, ‘Big D’, who has gone blind and hence is unable to do any work.
Another part is also to help a former teacher of the same writer, currently battling with stroke.
