Myths surround a lot of things we know and a good number of them were only coined by people of old. Top on the myths list is the myth surrounding the mystery of virginity.
Many people have become experts at defining the ins and outs of virginity, with the majority of what they say or purport to be false.
Let’s take a trip down the path of some of the myths we often hear and are exposed to.
1. An intact hymen is the only sign of virginity
This is what is most common and however very false. There are various as to why the hymen could break and that includes cycling, vigorous exercising etc.
Sex is not the only way one can break their hymen. So it’s nothing to worry about when you have sex for the first time and there’s no hymen to break.
2. It bleeds and is very painful
A good majority of people have associated virginity with the notion of painful and crippling pain during the first intercourse. This is not entirely false, though there is definitely some discomfort.
Most women do experience this but only due to the anxiety and nervousness they associate with the act of sex.
Under the right circumstances and being adequately aroused, there are some women who do not bleed and a whole lot who feel no pain at all.
3. Your vagina gets loosen when you lose your virginity
Relax! This is an absolute myth. Childbirth and old age are the only factors that can loosen one’s vagina. Aside from these two, sex has very little role to play in the tightness or looseness of your vagina.
4. You can only lose your virginity once
This is again not true. This is closely linked to the fact that virginity can be lost in many other ways. Imagine if it was lost once, then most people who lost it doing other activities except having sexual intercourse never got to lose it through sex.
So the idea that you will engage in a lot of firsts in your life is an indication that losing your virginity only once is wrong at many levels.
As many as the myths are, they all, like these prove to be false over time. Be well educated and proactive in reviewing everything you hear.
