Krachi East NADMO conducts community awareness campaign along River Oti

The Krachi East Directorate of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has embarked on a community awareness campaign to educate residents living along the River Oti about safety procedures and emergency response services.

This initiative aims to prepare communities for potential flooding caused by the spillage of the Bagre Dam in Burkina Faso.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr. Jonathan Dzunu, the Municipal Director of NADMO, said the campaign focuses on educating residents on the risks associated with flooding and necessary precautions to take.

He said again, the campaign is to inform communities about emergency response services and evacuation procedures, when the needs arise.

Addressing communities such as Kudorkope, Fante-Kope, Fiakope and many more, he said the education was to provide them guidance on safety measures to take during floods which will be include, moving to higher ground and avoiding electrical hazards.

Mr. Dzunu extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Safo Nketia and the Member of Parliament (MP), Mr. Nelson Kofi Djabab, for their unwavering support.

According to him, their support has been instrumental in facilitating NADMO’s operations, enabling the organisation to effectively move from one community to another in its efforts to educate and prepare residents for potential disasters.

He said the support provided by the MCE and MP has enabled NADMO to reach more communities, providing critical education and preparedness training to residents.
