The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has arrested five Chinese nationals in a targeted operation on Monday, December 29.

The raid, conducted in the Akyem Oda area of the Birim Central Municipality, focused on sites involved in unauthorized mining and the direct discharge of waste into the Birim River.

As part of the operation, the taskforce rendered two excavators inoperable, confiscated a Toyota Hilux and a Toyota Land Cruiser, and demolished makeshift structures along the riverbank. The demolition included water pumps and other mining equipment.
