The National Association of Registered Midwives, Ghana (NARM Ghana), has donated essential items to the Maternity Unit of the Bongo District Hospital to enhance healthcare delivery and improve working conditions for staff and patients.
The items, comprising two air conditioners, a gallon of liquid soap and a full pack of tissue, were presented by a delegation led by Mr Haruna Tahiru, National Public Relations Officer (PRO) of NARM Ghana.
Mr Tahiru said the gesture formed part of the Association’s commitment to promoting quality maternal and newborn healthcare while improving the welfare of midwives and other health professionals.
He noted that creating a conducive working environment was critical to ensuring quality healthcare delivery and safeguarding the psychosocial well-being of healthcare workers.
“As much as we want to please and work for our clients, we also need to ensure good psychosocial health. If you cannot work in such conditions, it will definitely affect your mental health,” he said.
Mr Tahiru explained that the air conditioners were provided following recommendations from the regional branch and subsequent approval by the national leadership of the Association to improve conditions at the maternity unit.
Receiving the items on behalf of the facility, Dr Kofi Asare Ansah, Administrator of the Bongo District Hospital, expressed appreciation to NARM Ghana for the support, describing it as timely and significant.
He said the air conditioners would help create a more comfortable environment for both healthcare workers and patients, thereby enhancing service delivery at the maternity unit.
Dr Ansah assured the Association that the items would be properly utilised and appealed for continued support to strengthen maternal healthcare services in the district.
Ms Azuma Ayimbila, Senior Midwifery Officer at the hospital, also thanked NARM Ghana for the gesture and encouraged midwives across the country to join the Association to promote unity, professional growth and collaboration within the profession.
The support is expected to improve working conditions at the Bongo District Hospital Maternity Unit and enhance the quality of care provided to mothers and newborns.
