Nationwide ban on bush hunting remains in force – GNFS

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has reminded that the nationwide ban on bush hunting in the dry season is still in force.

Assistant Divisional Officer Grade One (ADO1) Kwame Adomako, the Bono Regional Public Relations Officer of the GNFS, said it was also a serious offence for anybody to set fire at the farm too.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, ADO1 Adomako said the service had intensified enforcement on the ban, saying offenders would be prosecuted adding that convicts could either pay a fine or be incarcerated or both.

“Hunting is seriously prohibited in the season and more, so we don’t want anybody to set fire on the farm now,” he stated.

ADO1 said the harmattan could possibly be severe and urged households and farmers to be wary about the way and manner they handled naked fires to stem fire outbreaks.
