The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Naser Toure Mahama, has died at the age of 60.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) legislator passed away at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra following a period of illness.
Elected to Parliament in 2013, Mr. Mahama was serving his fourth consecutive term representing the Ayawaso East constituency in the Greater Accra Region.
He was a native of Kue in the Nkwanta South District of the Oti Region.
Parliament and the NDC have been plunged into mourning following news of his death. Official statements from both institutions are expected shortly.
