Ndesalla community cries for development, recognition

The Ndesalla community in Krachi Nchumuru District of the Oti Region, is crying for attention due to its poor road infrastructure and lack of development.

Little or no attention has been paid to the community’s pleas over the years, with residents feeling abandoned.

The community’s road network is in a deplorable state, with residents forced to physically carry motorbikes across streams to access neighbouring communities.

Pregnant women and sick individuals face significant challenges accessing healthcare facilities, with some reportedly dying in transit.

Again, the community’s struggles go beyond poor road infrastructure as students face significant challenges in their education due to inadequate facilities.

The lack of proper classrooms, desks and learning materials is severely impacting the quality of education, with students forced to study in makeshift structures.

The situation is dire, with students having limited access to necessities such as textbooks, exercise books and writing materials.

A visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) revealed that, teachers are also struggling to deliver quality education without the necessary resources, leading to a vicious cycle of poor academic performance and limited opportunities.

Residents are urging authorities to prioritize their needs and provide basic amenities to improve their quality of life.

Unikple Jayom Maxwell, opinion leader of Ndesalla, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency, has appealed to the government to address the issues, emphasising that the impact on residents’ daily lives is burdensome.
