As part of measures to curb the spread of the deadly novel coronavirus, some nearly 1300 workers have been deployed to disinfect 137 markets in Accra.
According to Citi News, the Greater Accra Regional Coordination Council assigned 10 sprayers per market and will be coordinating the entire disinfection exercise.
The sprayers are expected to use Chlorine Dioxide and Sodium Hypochloride for the disinfection exercise.
Markets will, however, be opened to the public on Tuesday, March 24, 2020.
Hajia Alima Mahama, Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, last Friday, said the decision to disinfect markets today was arrived at in consultation with the market women.
A similar exercise is currently underway in the Ashanti Region as well. Both the Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions are the only places that have recorded cases of the novel coronavirus.
