New Covenant Assembles of God organizes ‘Love Feast’ for host community

The New Covenant Assemblies of God Church at Darkuman-Nyamekye in Accra has organized a “Love Feast’’ for inhabitants of its host community and environs.

The annual event is organized by the church to share sumptuous, prepared food and drinks among community members to usher them into the new year with love and unity.

Reverend Blessing Mensah, the Senior Pastor of the Church who doubles as the Kaneshie District Pastor of the Assemblies of God in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said the gesture was also to bring the church closer to the community with the assurance of having them at heart.

He said though the event could be used as an avenue for winning souls for Christ through evangelism, but the church did not do that to avoid creating the impression of baiting people to receive Christ.

“The day is to create a healthy, harmonious relationship between the church and its host community,” he stated.

Rev. Mensah said the church existed to show the way to Christ and to teach us how to live by good neighborliness, adding that, “The church must demonstrate these principles in harmony with its teachings.”

He stressed, “It’s important not to segregate or discriminate among the people because Christ loves all equally, “saying, “In 2026 we must endeavour to seek the face of God in every step we take in order to receive His goodness throughout the year.”

Pastor Ernest Amoah of the church said the bible encouraged us to be good neighbours and that the event went a long way to testify to that effect.

He urged churches to emulate the gesture to remind people of the love of Christ.
