The Ningo Prampram District Assembly (NIPDA) is running a 20-acre tomato production under the government’s Food Systems Resilient Project.
Mr Raphael Uriel Nartey, the Ningo-Prampram District Chief Executive, announced this at a sessional address during NIPDA’s ordinary assembly meeting.
Mr Nartey said 19 farmers, made up of eight females and 11 males, had benefited under the project.
He added that under the government’s flagship Feed Ghana Programme, the district registered a total of 84 farmer-based organisations, while 5,658 individual farmers were also participating in the programme.
He said the district was awaiting the delivery of its share of fowls for distribution to the farmers under the Poultry Revitalisation Programme.
He stated that in line with the agriculture value chain, evident gaps had been identified over the years, and the assembly had supported the Department of Agriculture to organise three training programmes and linkage forums for stakeholders with the agricultural value chain and five technical programmes for farmers.

The DCE noted that the future of agriculture to help tackle youth unemployment and solve food shortages was achievable in the district.
He called on stakeholders to come together to make the district the centre for all agricultural developments in the Greater Accra Region and beyond.
Touching on activities of the Youth Employment Agency in the district, he said a total of 88 youth had directly been impacted through the Youth in Community Protection Assistants, the Fire Service Assistants, the Prison Service Assistants and the Community Medical First Respondents modules, to complement the efforts of the security officers in the district.
