No Ghanaian casualties reported in Middle East conflict – Government assures citizens

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that no Ghanaian national has been killed or injured amid the escalating military confrontation between the United States, Israel, and Iran.

In a statement issued on Tuesday evening, Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced he had convened an emergency virtual meeting with Ghana’s Ambassadors and Consuls-General across the Middle East.

The session was held to assess the volatile security situation and reinforce protective measures for Ghanaians in the region.

“I am glad to report that so far no Ghanaian has been killed or injured,” Minister Ablakwa stated via social media.

The meeting included Heads of Mission from Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, and Turkey.

According to the Minister, discussions centered on evaluating real-time developments and implementing enhanced consular interventions.

To facilitate these efforts, the Ministry has compiled a comprehensive database of Ghanaians residing in, visiting, or transiting through the affected nations.

“All missions have been tasked to identify Ghanaians within their jurisdictions who wish to be evacuated for the urgent consideration of the government,” Mr. Ablakwa noted.

Furthermore, diplomatic missions are actively assisting citizens in reaching safety.

“Our diplomatic missions are currently assisting a considerable number of Ghanaians escape across certain strategic border crossings,” he revealed.

The crisis intensified following a joint large-scale offensive by US and Israeli forces against Iran on February 28, 2026, which has since triggered retaliatory missile and drone strikes across the region.

The Ministry has pledged to continue monitoring the situation closely, reiterating that “the safety and welfare of all Ghanaians remains our utmost priority.”
