Veteran Ghanaian musician, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley seems to be irked by recent calls from many celebrities to the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) to lift the ban preventing celebs from advertising alcoholic beverages.
Many Ghanaian celebrities such as Shatta Wale, Wendy Shay, Edem, Afia Schwarzenegger have lashed out at the authority to lift the ban to allow them to make some money.
Speaking in an interview, on 3FM, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley stressed that it’s imperative for the FDA to take such stance due to the future of Ghana’s youth.
According to the artiste, alcohol is destructive and he believes any celebrity with a “well-functioning brain” would not want to endorse alcoholic beverages or brands.
He said: “All those celebrities who have proper sense will not endorse alcohol because alcohol is not good.”
He went on to add that: “Celebrities endorsing alcoholic beverages shouldn’t be allowed at all. Music and alcohol shouldn’t be allowed because of it’ll be enticing the youth. If you look at music videos, it all features young boys and girls. Alcohol must not be in the system for the young boys and girls to feast on it.”
