The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has brought its Volta Regional Thank You Tour to a close, with a grand durbar at Juapong in the North Tongu District.

Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the party’s National Chairman, interacted with chiefs, party members, and residents.

The event, held at the Elezu Family Grounds, drew supporters who celebrated with music and dance in a show of unity and loyalty to the NDC.

Ms Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe, the North Tongu District Chief Executive, highlighted key developmental projects undertaken in the district under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama.

These included the completion of the culvert and feeder road linking the National Health Insurance office and the Three Kings Special School at Battor, the construction of the Avedzi D/A JHS block, and the near completion of the Dorfor-Tornu three-unit classroom block.

She announced that the long-stalled Dove CHPS compound was now ready for commissioning and that new projects were under tendering to ensure equitable development across all six traditional areas in the district.

Ms Doe commended Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for the area, who is also the Minister of Foreign Affairs, for securing several GETFund projects for Senior High Schools in the area.

Ms Doe noted that the interventions were helping to address infrastructure challenges.

While acknowledging the progress made, the DCE appealed to the party leadership to include North Tongu in the next phase of the Big Push Initiative and to prioritise the revival of the Juapong Textiles and Aveyime Rice projects, as well as the establishment of a satellite campus of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in the district.

Traditional leaders, including the Manklalo of the Dorfor Traditional Area, Togbe Agbohla VI, also called for renewed efforts toward industrial revival and youth empowerment.

In response, Mr Asiedu Nketiah expressed appreciation to the people of North Tongu for their unwavering support for the NDC and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to equitable national development.

Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, announced that work on the Juapong–Podoe–Abutia–Sokode–Ho Road network would soon commence to improve mobility and trade within the region.

The event also featured an appeal from Mr Dominic Adoboe, the Constituency Vice Chairman, who called for fairness during elections and increased empowerment opportunities for party members.

The gathering was marked by a strong sense of unity and renewed commitment toward the socio-economic transformation of North Tongu.
