NPP announces fees, rules for internal elections  

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced rules and regulations for its forthcoming internal elections to select executives from the polling station to the national level.  

The party also announced fees for polling stations, constituencies, regional and national executive elections as part of its internal democratic exercise.  

Speaking at a press conference in Accra, Mr Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the NPP, explained that the regulations governing the internal elections were in line with Article 18 and other provisions of the party’s constitution.

“The process of registration of members will start from March 1 to 31, 2026. The data entry of members who have been registered will be between April 1 and April 10, 2026. After the data entry, there will be verification of its members from April 14 to 16, 2026,” he stated.  

Mr Frimpong said internal elections would commence at the polling station level, with nominations opening and closing between April 20 and April 24. Vetting of aspirants would take place from April 25 to April 30, while appeals would be received from May 1 to May 4.  

“The notice of poll will be from May 6 to May 9, 2026. The elections of the polling station executives will be from May 10 to 16, 2026,” he said.  

Mr Frimpong noted that data entry and validation for the polling station executives’ album would occur from April 17 to April 21, 2026.  

The party would then proceed to the electoral area executive elections, with nominations opening and closing from May 23 to May 25, vetting scheduled from May 26 to May 31, appeals from June 1 to June 4, notices of poll from June 5 to June 8, and elections from June 10 to June 15.

“In all these activities, the responsible office will be the constituency executive committee and the regional steering committee, with oversight responsibility by the national secretariat,” he explained.  

For constituency executive elections, nominations would open and close from June 22 to June 24, vetting from June 25 to June 27; appeals from June 28 to June 30; notices of poll from July 2 to July 5, and elections from July 11 to July 12.   

Data entry of the constituency album would follow from July 13 to July 26, 2026.  

Mr Frimpong announced nomination fees for various positions, stating that the cost for national chairman was GH¢50,000, vice chairpersons GH¢30,000, General Secretary GH¢25,000, other positions GH¢10,000, and special ranks, including Nasara, women, youth and persons with disability GH¢8,000.  

He expressed confidence that the outlined processes would ensure transparency, fairness, and broad participation in the party’s internal democratic exercise.
