Obour concedes defeat in Asante Akyem South NPP primary

Bice Osei Kufour, popularly known as Obour, has conceded defeat in the Asante Akyem South New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary.

The musician was beaten by the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) Kwaku Asante-Boateng.

Earlier reports indicated that the singer had won the election causing his fans to jubilate till the Electoral Commission declared official results.

Obour had 296 votes while Mr. Asante-Boateng polled 360 votes.

Addressing the media after results were declared, the musician conceded defeat and promised to support the elected parliamentary candidate for the NPP.

“This is an internal contest. Hon. Asante-Boateng has shown that he is an experienced politician…This is good. This is my first time coming into the race”

“After election is the time for reconciliation. It is the time for coming together…”, he said.

NPP delegates have voted to elect parliamentary candidates for 168 constituencies.
