One person has died and 16 others have been injured in a road accident at Peki Tsame, near Mawutor Inn on the Peki–Asikuma highway.
The crash occurred when a Toyota Hiace bus, registered as GT 7012-24, suffered a rear tyre burst and somersaulted.
In a Facebook post on Friday, February 13, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) confirmed that personnel from the Peki Fire Station, under the command of ADO I Godwin Gbedemah, responded promptly and rescued victims trapped in the vehicle.
The injured, comprising eight men, seven women, and one child, were handed over to the National Ambulance Service and taken to the Peki Government Hospital for treatment.
According to the GNFS, one victim later died at the facility, while the remaining casualties are said to be in stable condition.
