A total of 27 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) within the Asokore-Mampong municipality, have received livelihood support items valued at thousands of Ghana cedis, from the Municipal assembly.
The items included 15 deep freezers and 12 industrial sewing machines.
The initiative is designed to empower beneficiaries, thereby enhancing their livelihoods and fostering greater economic independence.

The items were procured from the second tranche of the District Assembly’s allocation from the Disability Common Fund, which aims to alleviate poverty among PWDs, particularly those engaged in informal employment within the municipality
In an interview with GNA following the presentation, Mr. Ben Abdullah Alhassan, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), noted that, the initiative was in harmony with the reset agenda of the government, which emphasized social protection, empowerment, and the elevation of living standards for all citizens, especially vulnerable people.
He affirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to creating opportunities that ensured that no individual was left behind in its developmental agenda.
He urged PWDs to refrain from soliciting alms on the streets and instead leverage their God-given talents to engage in productive enterprises that would yield a sustainable livelihood.
Several beneficiaries who spoke with GNA expressed their gratitude to the government and the Municipal Assembly for the support and pledged to utilize the items judiciously.
