The Parliament of the Republic of Ghana is considering procuring bulletproof glass curtains in an effort to maximize the security of its members.

Professor Mike Ocquaye, the speaker of the house, made this announcement during his closing remarks before the house adjourned for the Christmas festivities.

Parliament earlier this year faced a distraction when crusaders of the ‘drop that chamber’ campaign interrupted proceedings with their chants.

Making the intent known, the speaker; “Work on the Parliament House are ongoing and progress can be obviously seen.

The visitors centre is also expected to be completed early next year. It may interest members to know that the Board is seriously considering a bulletproof glass curtain to slate the gallery for the utmost protection of members while in the Chamber.”
