Mr. Emmanuel Akwasi Bedzrah, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Open Government Partnership (OGP) Caucus, has led a delegation to meet with the National OGP Steering Committee, marking a step towards enhancing collaboration and advancing Ghana’s OGP commitments.
The meeting, which brought together representatives from Parliament and the National Steering Committee, focused on strategies to deepen cooperation in promoting transparency accountability, and citizen participation in governance.
These were contained in a statement issued by Mr. David Sebastian Damoah, the Director, Media Relations, Parliamentary Service, and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Saturday.
It said key discussions centered on strengthening strategic partnerships, enhancing public awareness, and advocating for increased funding for the Public Sector Reforms Secretariat, the OGP secretariat in Ghana.
According to the statement, “The meeting aimed to explore avenues for collaboration to ensure effective implementation of Ghana’s OGP commitments, a global initiative launched in 2011 to promote transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness in governance.”
The Parliamentary OGP Caucus, established in November 2023, is composed of Members of Parliament from both the Majority and Minority Caucuses who are committed to advancing OGP principles.
The Caucus is mandated to support the effective implementation of Ghana’s national OGP commitments and promote open government principles across administrative processes and systems.
The OGP National Steering Committee, comprising representatives from government and civil society, is a key stakeholder in advancing open governance in Ghana.
