Many parts of Accra are expected to experience interruptions in power supply from Tuesday, February 25, 2020, as the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) begins its planned maintenance exercise.

According to the power distributing company, the exercise is expected to last for four days, thus, ending on Friday, February 28.

Many residents of Accra, have over the last six weeks experienced unannounced or explained power cuts which has stirred fear amongst them, over the possibility of the country going back to the period of erratic power supply, known as ‘dumsor.’

Residents in Accra and Kumasi say, these power cuts sometimes last as long as six hours, very similar to what was the norm some four years ago in the country.
