Ace broadcaster Fiifi Banson has disclosed that media giant Despite Media gave him a whopping amount of 30 million old cedis as poaching fee.
He was contracted to work for Accra-based Peace FM in 1999 while with Radio Gold.
The fee, 30 million old cedis, is equivalent to GH¢3,000 today.
Fiifi Banson said that the amount was huge enough to enable him construct a four-bedroom house.
“The money from Peace FM was good. I remember that at that time, that was in 1999…they gave me 30 million cedis, now GHS3,000″, he said on Accra FM.
“That 30 million built a four-bedroom house. In fact, 23 to 24 million cedis built a four-bedroom house, so, that should tell you what 30 million was at that time,” he added.
The ace broadcaster also disclosed that he was the first to be poached when Peace FM was established.
Fiifi Banson was the host of ‘Ekwanso Brebre’ for 15 years before joining the EIB Network.
