Pedestrians crossing the Madina- Adenta highway have been forced to use the constructed footbridge due to the presence of military personnel.
The military personnel made an appearance at the area after another pedestrian was knocked down in an attempt to cross the road, three days ago.
It can be recalled that, residents of Adenta and Madina embarked on several demonstrations, calling on the government to ensure the completion of the footbridges.
The contract for the construction and completion of the footbridge was awarded in November 2018.
However, upon its completion, the same residents who demanded it have blatantly refused to use the bridges sighting various reasons. Last month the Madina police arrested over 50 people for refusing to use the bridge.

Some residents said, “If I were to rate the construction of this footbridge, I will only give it 40 per cent because it is very bad. To go around all these steps before finally descending leaves much to be desired.
“Also, there is no light on it making it risky to use in the evening. I don’t think it’s good. They have to do something about it,” the resident said.
Another also expressed his opinion, saying the bridge was just too long and laborious to use.
The order was restored almost immediately when the military stormed the area to curb the indiscipline. Some residents are happy with the intervention of the military, whilst others believe a more permanent solution must be found.
Since pedestrians would go back to their old habits after the military personnel vacate the vicinity.
