As part of efforts to support community development and strengthen collaboration with its host communities, Perseus Mining Ghana Limited (PMGL) has donated building materials valued at GH₵200,000 to 19 communities within its exploration catchment areas.
The initiative forms part of the company’s broader efforts to support sustainable development and foster stronger partnerships with communities within its catchment areas.
The donation, which includes cement, iron rods, wood, roofing sheets and other construction materials, is expected to support the implementation of various community-initiated development projects.
Among the beneficiary communities are Besease, Powuako, Dompoase and Babianaha, respectively in the Upper Denkyira West and Wassa Amenfi East districts of the Central and Western North Regions.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the Mr Alex Kofi Oduro, General Manager of PMGL, said the gesture demonstrated the company’s commitment to contributing to the socio-economic development of communities within its operational areas.
He said the materials would support projects including the construction of schools, community centres and other essential infrastructure identified and initiated by the beneficiary communities.
Mr Oduro urged the communities to ensure that the materials were used strictly for their intended purposes and properly managed to achieve the desired developmental impact.
Meanwhile, the beneficiary communities expressed their appreciation to Perseus Mining Ghana Limited for the timely intervention.
They said the donation would provide the needed support to accelerate the implementation of their development projects and improve essential infrastructure within the communities.
The communities further expressed their commitment to ensuring that the materials ŵere put to good use for the collective benefits of residents.
