Police arrest 132 suspects in Accra Pre-Christmas crime crackdown

The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested 132 suspects in a series of targeted operations aimed at ensuring security during the festive season.

In a press briefing on December 23, Regional PRO Superintendent Juliana Obeng stated that the swoops, conducted across multiple divisions in the metropolis, led to the recovery of narcotics, suspected stolen items, and motorcycles.

Key operations included a December 18th swoop near Merciful Hotel Annex (4 arrests), a December 21st operation at criminal hideouts by Railways District Command (15 arrests), and a major motor traffic exercise around East Legon on December 19th, which resulted in the arrest of 36 motorbike riders.

All suspects are undergoing screening and will be processed for court if found culpable, while recovered exhibits are being held for forensic analysis. The Police Command reiterated its commitment to public safety and encouraged continued cooperation from citizens.
