President John Dramani Mahama has joined the Police to observe the 2025 Police Memorial Day with a wreath laying at the Cenotaph at the Police Training School, Tesano, Accra.
He also signed a book of condolence in honour of all the fallen heroes, which included the 20 police officers who lost their lives this year in their line of duties.
Out of the total number, eight have their names engraved on the wall of honour while 12 have their names engraved in the memorial book of honour.
The Day is an important one set aside annually by the Ghana Police Service to give special recognition to serving Police officers who had lost their lives in their line of duty for the safety and protection of life and property, whether the death occurred in Ghana or abroad; such as internal operations and duties or on peacekeeping mission grounds.
The purpose of the day is to recognise the significant contributions, and the sacrifices Police officers make to the country even at the peril of their lives. In attendance were Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the Interior Minister and Minister for National Security, and Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
