Police have rescued a young woman after a four-day abduction and arrested a 26-year-old suspect in the Dalogu Yili suburb of Tamale.
The victim, Haruna Adamu, was reportedly freed in a swift operation led by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Operations Team on December 26. Authorities were alerted to the kidnapping earlier that morning.
Chief Inspector Abdullai Tahiru, who headed the operation, stated that the victim was rescued unharmed and has since been reunited with her family.
The suspect, Fuseini Ibrahim, is in custody and has been transferred to the Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for further inquiry.
In a separate but related crackdown, police also apprehended two alleged drug peddlers during targeted Christmas patrols in Tamale.
The suspects, Ziyad Inusah and Majid Fuseini, were arrested by the same operations team, which deployed 105 personnel across the metropolis. Quantities of opioids were seized during the arrests.
The Ghana Police Service emphasized that the operations reflect its intensified efforts to ensure public safety, combat drug-related crime, and protect lives and property throughout the festive season.
