Actor Paul Sarpong popularly known as Paul Gee has shared his view on what collapsed the once vibrant Kumawood.
The movie industry in Ashanti Region especially in Kumasi was buzzing and came to be referred to as Kumawood.
According to Paul Gee, poor storylines and lack of original stories by movie producers and directors caused the collapse of the industry.
In an interview on Pure FM, Paul Gee revealed that the industry players caused the slow growth of the industry.
He believes Ghanaians are fed up with poor storylines and the boring acting by Kumawood actors.
“Kumawood movie industry has collapsed for some years which we can revive if we produce good storylines for Ghanaians. Directors should try to use more upcoming actors to replace the stars” Paul Gee advised.
“Featuring particular people in every movie because they are stars also caused the collapse of the industry. Ghanaians complained about it several times but our leaders failed to address their concerns”, he added.
Paul Gee also pleaded with movie producers to bring back Agya Koo, who has been sidelined by many of them.
He applauded Agya Koo for helping the industry stand when Ghana’s market was once dominated by Nigerian movies.
