PROSSU Ghana donates sports kits to Matsestars United FC

The Progressive Sports Supporters Union of Ghana (PROSSU Ghana) has donated sports kits to Matsestars United Football Club in Ho as part of the association’s commitment to support sports development and assist the needy in society.

Members of PROSSU from Kasoa, Kumasi, Accra, Ho and other parts of the country participated in the presentation on Friday.

Items donated included two sets of jerseys, two footballs, and an undisclosed amount of money to support the club.

Mr Francis Clottey, National President of PROSSU Ghana, said the donation formed part of the association’s efforts to support promising teams and promote sports development in the country.

“We observed that the team is doing well in their league, and in football when a team is progressing you support them to achieve their goals,” he said.

Mr Clottey explained that PROSSU was founded on four key pillars: supporting the needy, promoting sports development, undertaking community clean-up exercises, and promoting discipline among supporters.

He urged football supporters across the country to maintain discipline during matches and other sporting events to promote the image of Ghana internationally.

“Whenever we travel outside the country, especially for international competitions, we must conduct ourselves well so the world will recognise Ghana positively,” he said.

Mr. Clottey also advised the players of Matsestars United to remain disciplined and united on the field of play.

“Discipline and teamwork are very important in football. When players understand themselves during training and work together, they can achieve their goals,” he said.

He added that the support from fans, including singing and drumming during matches, could motivate players to perform better.

Receiving the items on behalf of the team, Mr John Doe, Coach of Matsestars United Football Club, expressed gratitude to PROSSU Ghana for the gesture.

“We are very grateful for your support. The team is made up of young players eager to progress, but we do not receive much support. This donation will motivate the players to work harder,” he said.

Mr Doe appealed for more support from individuals and organisations to help the club develop and progress in competitive football.

Matsestars United Football Club is a Division Three side that originated from Matse in the Ho Municipality but is currently based at Aflakpe in the Ho West District.

The team is participating in Group A of the ongoing Ho Municipal Football Association Division Three League.
