Queens of Legacy appeals to President Mahama for support to empower queens

Mama Attrato II, President of Queens of Legacy and Queen of Ho-Dome, has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to provide financial support to divisional chiefs and queen mothers to enhance mentorship and outreach programmes for young girls.

She made the appeal during an interactive engagement with students of OLA Senior High School (OLA SHS) in Ho, where she underscored the need for logistical and financial backing to enable traditional leaders execute their social responsibilities effectively, especially in rural communities.

“We want to appeal to President Mahama to consider providing allowances to divisional chiefs and queen mothers to enable us reach out more effectively. We need resources to go into the villages, identify our girls, educate them, mentor them, and guide them on the right path,” she stated.

Mama Attrato II emphasised that queen mothers play a vital role in shaping the moral and social development of young girls, but limited resources often hinder their consistent engagement with schools and communities.

She reminded President Mahama of his earlier indication that divisional chiefs and queen mothers would receive government support and urged him to revisit that commitment.

According to her, even minimal assistance would help expand school and community outreach to educate young girls on discipline, hard work, vision, and the realities of life.

She added that sustained mentorship was critical to reducing teenage pregnancy, exploitation, and other social challenges facing young girls.

Empowering queen mothers with adequate resources, she noted, would strengthen grassroots engagement and complement government interventions in education and youth development.

Mama Attrato II reaffirmed the commitment of Queens of Legacy to continue guiding and mentoring young girls and expressed optimism that with institutional support, traditional leaders can play an even stronger role in safeguarding the future of the next generation.
