Dancehall act Theophilus Nii Arday Otoo popularly known as Epixode believes Ras Kuuku truly deserved the VGMA ‘Reggae & Dancehall Artiste of the Year’.
Epixode was nominated in the same category but Ras Kuuku emerged as the winner.
In an interview on YFM Takoradi’s Ryse N Shyne show, he said, “Ras Kuuku deserved it. I would not have voted for anyone apart from Kuuku. I am so happy for him”.
Ras Kuuku earlier reacted to claims that the absence of some big names in the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) ‘Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year’ category gave him a victory.
The usual top competitors, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy have been banned indefinitely by the VGMA board.
As a result, the two were not nominated for the 2020 VGMA ‘Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year’ category.
However, Ras Kuuku has jabbed critics who are downplaying his victory.
He asked if the absence of Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy makes his VGMA award a Senegalese award.
“Did the absence of certain people from the category make the award I won, a Senegal award? Does it make it a Mali award?”, he quizzed.
Ras Kuuku is not perturbed by negative comments from critics and he is determined to work harder to win more awards.
