On the wake of reports that reggae artist, Samini was denied interaction with students of the Ebenezer High School because of his dreadlocks, members of the Rastafari council are seeking redress from the Ghana Education Service.
Samini, a few days ago, narrated how he was prevented from speaking to the students by the headmaster of the school because his hairstyle was inappropriate.
He said, “The headmaster of Ebenezer Senior High School decided that because of my dreadlocks, I was not fit to speak to the students of the school which is in Dansoman where I live, which is 5 minutes from my parents’ home.”
The Rastafari Council of Ghana has found the act by the headmaster discriminatory and is thus, appealing to the Ghana Education Service to deal with the said headmaster.
According to the council, the headmaster of the school, whose name is not yet known should be dealt with because he discriminates against Rastafarians.
In a statement signed by the president of the Council, he reiterated that the claim by the headmaster of Ebenezer Senior High School is a breach of Article 21 (c) of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution that guarantees the rights and liberties of all Ghanaians devoid of religion.
