The second lady of the Republic of Ghana, Her excellency Samira Bawumia, is said to have reportedly passed out at the 17th Biennial Delegates Congress, of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) yesterday, November 26.
As reported by the Graphic Online, the second lady was set to deliver a speech at the event after the welcome address had been delivered by the Chief Nursing Officer for Greater Accra, Madam Cecilia Obeng Peprah.
Samira, who according to reports had been seated since the start of the event, mounted the podium to deliver her address at about 12 pm.
She requested for water a few minutes into her speech and complained of dizziness shortly after taking the water. The second lady is said to have then gone down momentarily.
Her aides and security detail quickly rushed to her and offered her the necessary first aid, whilst the perimeter was marked off.
A stretcher was made available and the second lady was quickly conveyed in a convoy to her hotel.
In a post on Facebook, later on, Mrs Bawumia wrote: “I am grateful to the professionals present, for their timely intervention after I succumbed to the heat at the conference venue. Thank you all for the well-wishes.”
Reports received suggest, she is fine and in stable condition.
