Sekondi-Takoradi GES organises 69th Pre-Independence Day parade for KG schools

The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has organised a march past parade for pupils from selected kindergarten (KG) schools in the metropolis to mark the 69th Pre-Independence Day Anniversary.

The event, which brought together about 34 schools and was held at Sekondi, was on the theme: “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope.”

Mr Frederick F. Faidoo, the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), speaking at the event, said the celebration was an important aspect of helping the young ones to learn about the history and sacrifices of those who laid down their lives for the independence of the country.

He said: “Independence Day is very special to us because it reminds us that many years ago, our forefathers worked very hard so that Ghana could be free and rule itself, and it is because of their sacrifice that we can live in a free and peaceful country today.”

He said that though the pupils were very young, they were important to the future of Ghana, and that they must play vital roles in building a prosperous nation.

Mr Faidoo advised the children to take their studies seriously, obey their parents and teachers, and exhibit good behaviour both at school and at home so they could become successful people in future.

The MCE commended teachers for their continuous dedication and commitment to shaping the lives of the children, saying, “Your patience, love, and dedication help our children grow and learn every day.”

Mr Faidoo gave the assurance that the Assembly would continue to work hard to improve education, provide better facilities for schools, and create a safe environment for all children in the metropolis.
