Sudanese Fashion designer, Mayada Adil has in a recent interview on Encore, has spoken on how she is using fashion to empower women and refugees in her country.
A medical doctor by profession, Mayada Adil talks about her switch from her medical career in Khartoum to a fashion designer in Paris
According to Mayada, she draws her inspiration from the women in Sudan’s refugee camps.
She believes the time is now for African designers because this generation is willing and committed to bringing the African scene to life and through fashion this generation have decided to overcome all the traditional racism we have been through.
She also believes art is a way we use to express our freedom and fashion is one of the strongest tools to use to do that.
