Sunyani MCE and MP break ground for development projects in three communities 

Mr Vincent Antwi Agyei, the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), together with Mr. Seid Mubarak, Member of Parliament (MP) for Sunyani East, has cut the sod for the commencement of three development projects in selected communities within the Sunyani Municipality.

The beneficiary communities, Yawhima, Baakoniaba and Kurosua No. 2 are set to benefit from a three-unit classroom block at African Faith Basic School, a health center at Baakoniaba, ceremony and a CHPS compound with a nurse’s accommodation and a mechanized borehole at Kurosua No. 2.

The projects, which are being funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), were chosen based on the community needs assessment and projects are expected to be completed within eight Months.

Speaking at separate ceremonies during the sod-cutting events, Mr. Agyei stressed that the welfare of the people remained a top priority. 

He stated, “It was time to enhance the development of Sunyani and its surrounding communities with all possible means to alleviate the plight of the people”.

Mr. Adjei expressed optimism that the school project would improve teaching and learning, while the health center and CHPS compound would address the immediate health needs of the people, adding that funds for the projects were readily available to avoid delays.

Mr. Mubarak, MP for Sunyani East, assured residents of more infrastructural development and announced the beginning of a 10-kilometre town road project to benefit Yawhima, Baakoniaba, Abesim and Kotokrom.

He also stressed the importance of accessible healthcare, pledging to ensure that more investments were made in that sector to benefit residents.

Dr. Richard Adinkrah, Sunyani Municipal Health Director, welcomed the projects, noting that they would significantly improve healthcare delivery in the municipality. 

He observed there was currently no government health facility in some of the communities, adding that the projects will ease the pressure on the major health facilities, and would significantly improve health care delivery in the Municipality.

Nana Kwame Addai Kuntuma IV, the Nifahene of the Sunyani Traditional Council, said the completion of the projects would advance healthcare and education in the beneficiary communities and their surrounding areas.

He urged community members to support the contractors to ensure that the project were completed on schedule.
