Sunyani Technical University graduates 1,896 students

The Sunyani Technical University (STU) has conferred certificates on 1,896 students for the 2024/2025 academic year at its 18th congregation ceremony, held on the university’s campus in Sunyani. 

The graduating class comprised of four Master of Technology (MTech) graduates, 1,072 Bachelor’s degree (BTech/BSc) recipients, and 820 Higher National Diploma (HND) and diploma holders. 

The 18th congregation was held on the theme, “Sustainable Skills Development for Global Job Creation and Employability.”

Professor Kwadwo Adinkrah-Appiah, Vice-Chancellor of STU, stated that the university’s student population currently stood at 10,125, supported by a staff strength of 750 comprising 570 full-time and 180 part-time staff. 

He noted that the faculty strength, which was 249 in 2024, had increased to 255 and  

 indicated that the University currently runs 92 accredited academic programmes, including 13 Master of Technology (MTech), 31 Bachelor’s (BTech and BSc), 24 Higher National Diploma (HND), 5 Diploma, and 20 other non-tertiary TVET craft programmes. 

Madam Vera Enyonam Kwakye, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ericos Company Limited, encouraged the graduates to step into a world with all the essential skills acquired for employment. 

She described their education as a passport to the business world and shared three simple steps for starting a business locally, with the potential to scale nationally and eventually globally.

Madam Kwakye urged the graduates to identify problems they were passionate about solving, noting that every successful business begins with addressing a need. She encouraged them to leverage their knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience gained during their studies. 

She advised the graduates not to fear starting small but embrace perseverance and continuous learning, as the entrepreneurial journey is often filled with trials. 

Mr Malvin Osei Asare, a Procurement and Supply Chain Management student  

was awarded with the Valedictorian for the 2025 graduating class, while 16 awards were presented to outstanding students in recognition of their academic excellence.
