Nora Häuptle, the Swiss head coach of Ghana’s women’s national football team, the Black Queens, has officially departed from her role following the expiration of her contract on December 31, 2024. Häuptle, who took charge in February 2023, led the team to notable successes, including qualifying for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after a five-year absence.
During her tenure, Häuptle expressed concerns over the lack of preparatory matches for the Black Queens, emphasizing the importance of high-performance game exposures for the team’s development.
In response to reports suggesting that Häuptle had signed a contract with another national team, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) clarified that her contract was still valid until the end of 2024.
As of now, the GFA has not announced a successor for the Black Queens’ head coach position. Häuptle’s departure marks the end of a significant chapter in Ghanaian women’s football, with her leadership playing a pivotal role in revitalizing the team’s performance on the continental stage.
