Students of the Department of Logistics and Procurement Management of the Tamale Technical University (TaTU) have organized a practical Competency-Based Training (CBT) session for its Master of Science (MSc) students.
The exercise was focused on the drafting, signing, and presentation of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and Memorandums of Agreement (MoAs).
Held at the department, the simulation brought together students, faculty, and industry observers in a lively session aimed at bridging the gap between academic theory and real-world practice.
As part of the CBT methodology, students were placed in professional scenarios, where they worked in teams to develop, negotiate, and sign formal agreements commonly used in logistics and procurement.
Each group assumed the roles of stakeholders from the public and private sectors, simulating procurement partnerships, service contracts, and inter-organizational collaborations.
The exercise culminated in a signing ceremony, during which students presented their agreements, demonstrating technical expertise alongside soft skills such as negotiation, communication, and teamwork.
Dr Mohammed Majeed, Senior Lecturer and Head of Department of Logistics and Procurement Management, who facilitated the course, said the initiative was not just academic, but a real-world simulation, designed to prepare students to function as professionals from the onset.
He noted that the initiative reflected the department’s commitment to Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET), equipping students with both theoretical knowledge and practical workplace skills to enhance their employability.
The event was characterized by professionalism, enthusiasm, and vibrant academic engagement, which is expected to leave a lasting impression on participants.
