Two executives of the Ashaley Botwe Old Town Taxi Rank have been arraigned before the Adentan Circuit Court for allegedly plotting to kill a susu collector over a GH¢91,810 debt.
Eric Tettey Adjetey, former Chairman of the Taxi Rank, and Abubakar Altine, the current Chairman, have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
Their pleas were not taken when they appeared before the court, presided over by Mrs Angela Attachie, and they were remanded into police custody to reappear on September 22, 2026.
The prosecution said the accused persons allegedly contracted people to kill Esther Danquah, a susu collector and trader who resided at Nanakrom and operated at the Ashaley Botwe Old Town Taxi Rank.
Giving the facts, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Maxwell Oppong, Divisional Crime Officer, said about two months ago, a witness, whose name was withheld, reported to the Madina Divisional CID that Adjetey had approached him to kill Danquah.
He said the witness feigned interest and agreed to execute the plan, after which Adjetey allegedly offered him GH¢5,000 to carry out the murder.
DSP Oppong said Adjetey subsequently took the witness to Nanakrom, showed him Danquah’s residence and identified a location about 20 metres away where her body was to be dumped after the killing.
The prosecution said the witness informed other persons about the plan, who subsequently alerted the police.
DSP Oppong said on September 2, 2026, Adjetey arranged for the witness to meet Altine, who allegedly explained that he wanted Danquah killed because he owed her a large amount of money and she had been disgracing him at the taxi station.
Altine allegedly agreed to pay the GH¢5,000 and, on September 3, gave the witness and another person GH¢2,000 as part payment, instructing them to use the money to hire a pistol and a motorbike.
The prosecution said Altine told the witnesses that he would pick Danquah from the taxi station at about 1830 hours and that they should follow him to an agreed location where she would be killed.
