Highlife musician Kumi Guitar says there is no such genre known as ‘Afro Highlife’ in the music industry in Ghana.
He therefore asked Ghanaians to embrace “Highlife” music in its purest form.
Kumi Guitar advised that the well known Ghanaian genre should never be fused with Afro Beats.
“Let’s pay attention to Highlife,” he insisted.
He added that other genres of music are welcomed but “we as Ghanaians shouldn’t forget ours”.
Kumi Guitar strongly hopes Ghanaians will love highlife music as they did back in the days.
The singer explained that highlife music is different from Afro music, which he said was made by Fela, a Nigerian musician who got his inspiration from Ghana’s highlife music.
