Thomas Partey faces two additional rape charges

By News1

Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with two further counts of rape.

The 32-year-old, who already denies raping two women and sexually assaulting a third, is now set to face trial in November after the Crown Prosecution Service authorised the new charges.

Partey is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 13 March, in connection with the fresh allegations.

When he previously appeared at Southwark Crown Court in September last year, Partey pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

The alleged offences are said to have occurred between 2021 and 2022.

At that time, Partey was a regular starter for Arsenal in the Premier League. He was charged just four days after leaving the north London club upon the expiry of his contract at the end of June.

Now playing in Spain’s La Liga with Villarreal, Partey remains on bail.

His bail conditions do not prevent him from playing football, though he is required to notify police of any international travel at least 24 hours in advance and must not contact the complainants.

Partey continues to be a key figure for the Ghana national team. Ghana are set to face England in the group stages of the World Cup in the United States on 23 June.
