Toase traditional council supports renovation of Mpasatia D/A basic ‘A’ school

The Toase Traditional Council in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality, has provided financial and material support towards the renovation of the Mpasatia D/A basic ‘A’ school block in the Atwima Mponua District.

The council donated a cheque for an amount of GHc 4,000.00 for the purchase of 50 bags of cement and another GHc 2,500.00 during an open day celebration of the school at Mpasatia in the Ashanti Region.

It was organised by the management committee of the school on the theme: “Investing in our Leaders: Building Strong Foundations, Brick by Brick”, and was aimed at raising funds for the renovation project.

Nana Amonu Gyamfuaa Serwah Bonsu, Toase-Hemaa, who presented the donation, described the programme as a literal and figurative foundation for a brighter future.

She said the programme was not only an effort to build a classroom or structures but also to build lives, a beacon of hope, a symbol of nurturing young minds and testament to a collective power to shape the future since they were also shaping and investing in future leaders.

She explained that education was a key that could unlocked potentials and so every child deserved access to quality education as a foundation upon which children could build their dreams.

Nana Serwaah Bonsu, announced the readiness of the council for a continuous support to the other stakeholders till the full completion of the project.

“The Toase Yim Awere palace in collaboration with the traditional council and other stakeholders are stepping up to support, help empower and equip the learners with knowledge, wisdom, critical thinking and problem-solving skills and the values that will make their guardians proud,” she declared.

Mrs Evelyn Bridget Prempeh, Headmistress of the school, who received the donation, said the occasion was not only to boast their achievements, but also to raise awareness and provide an opportunity for the learners to showcase their God-given talents to the broader community.

She cited a biblical instance to explain her point from Matthew 5:14-16 that “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden, neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl, instead, they put it on its stand and it gives light to everyone in the house”

She therefore, urged the learners to shine before others and expose their good deeds to outsiders instead of keeping their talents hidden.

The Head teacher urged her staff not to  only educate children within the confines of the classroom but to uncover their innate abilities and provide opportunities for them to demonstrate their skills publicly.

This she said, required the collective and leading efforts of teachers and parents with support from the District Assembly, Nananom, nonprofit organizations, philanthropists, old students and other stakeholders.

Mrs Prempeh, described the programme and the targetted project as timely and essential for the school, which had since its establishment in 1962 not seen any reshaping or expansion.

It currently has over 400 learners in both the primary and junior high departments.

Mr Richard Afful Osei, a Cocoa Purchasing Clerk (PC) in the town, who chaired the function, commended the participants for their support and also made a personal donation of GHc 500.00 cash towards the project.
