Traditional authorities urged to support government’s initiatives for progress

Togbega Gbogbi Atsa V, President of the Adaklu Traditional Council has called on traditional leaders to continue supporting government’s initiatives that are geared towards the rapid socio-economic development and transformation of the country.  

He mentioned some of the initiatives that needed maximum support such as the National Sanitation Day, the Guns Amnesty, the 24-hour economy, and the Reset Agenda.  

Togbega Gbogbi, who is also the Paramount Chief of Adaklu made the call when commissioning of an ultra-modern office complex for the Adaklu Traditional Council at Adaklu Abuadi.

The edifice, which was initiated by some prominent citizens of Adaklu but was abandoned at the floor level was completed by Mr. Governs Kwame Agbodza, Minister for Roads and Highways at the cost of 900,000 Ghana Cedis with his share of the MP Common Fund.  

He also furnished all the offices and conference room and provided office equipment amounting to 600,000 Ghana Cedis from his own resources.  

Togbega Gbogbi praised President John Dramani Mahama for his visionary leadership and the Reset Agenda with the aim to transform the country’s economy and improve the lives of the citizenry.  

“Mr President, your commitment to inclusive development and national renewal continues to inspire confidence and hope across the country including Adaklu.  

“The 24-hour economy market is a game changer which will improve the economic standards of the people,” Togbega Gbogbi said.

He stated that under the government’s reset agenda, Adaklu had seen improvements in the education and health sectors.  

“We have seen the construction and upgrading of classroom blocks, CHPS Compounds and health centers and ICT facilities across our communities,” The President of the Council said  

He praised the government for acknowledging the critical role traditional authorities played as partners in development and the renewed recognition and developmental support being extended to them.  

Togbega Gbogbi was also grateful to the government and the Ministry of Roads and Highways for the Big Push Road infrastructure programme which has brought major road projects to Adaklu.  

He mentioned some of the roads as the Adaklu Abuadi – Adaklu Waya, Adaklu Waya – Keyime, Adaklu Waya -Mafi Kumase, Adaklu Helekpe through Adaklu Adaklu Dzakpo to Adaklu Kodzobi and Adaklu Seva junction through Vudede to Mafi Kumase.   

Togbe Gbogbi noted that these roads would improve access and agriculture in the Adaklu enclave.  

He praised Mr Agbodza for completing and furnishing the office complex and said, “he has really taken away our shame as we now have a decent office which we are proud of.”  

Mr Agbodza assured the people that the Volta region and Adaklu would have their fair share of Roads under the “Big Push”.  

He stated that the infrastructure deficit of the Gbekor Senior High School would soon be solved and that the two Senior High Schools would be provided with school buses.  

Present were Mr Ahmed Ibrahim, Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs (LGCRA), Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, Madam Rita Naa Odorley Sowah, Deputy Minister for LGCRA, Mr Jerry Yaw Ameko, Adaklu District Chief Executive and Dean of MDCES in the Volta region, chiefs and Regional and Constituency NDC executives.
